Meet Our Staff

Jen Simpson, Director

Miss Jen started working with children over 25 years ago in church-based children’s ministries. Prior to founding The Kids Spot in 2009, she was involved in social work, counseling pre-teen and teen girls who had experienced childhood trauma.

The mother of three young-adults and a tween, Jen describes herself as energetic, playful, and casual. She bounces out of bed at 6 a.m., and like the Energizer bunny, she keeps going… and going… and going. She unwinds by working on projects, such as refinishing and painting a piece of furniture. Before she goes to bed, Jen reads, checks Pinterest, or both.

Jen’s friends and family say that “she will put on the party because she knows all the best games.”
And they’re right; Jen loves to play games. She believes preschool should combine learning and fun in a casual, yet structured environment, and is committed to teaching concepts through games and music.

Teaching allows Jen to combine her passion for working with children with her love of serving others. She views The Kids Spot as a safe, nurturing environment that will prepare children for kindergarten or first grade.

Miss Madison

Madison puts the fun in school. A teacher at The Kids Spot since 2009, she’s creative and lives for the children. She runs the extended-day program on Tuesdays (where the children can stay two extra hours to do games and crafts).

In addition to teaching, Madison is a nurse, working evenings at a hospice center. In 2022, she is moving back to Indonesia to spend a year working there.

Miss Cami

A retired elementary teacher, Cami has taught at The Kids Spot for two years. She adores science, 4-H, and horticulture, and enthusiastically dreams up all the school’s science experiments.

Cami’s hobby is woodworking, and she built a lot of the furniture at the school. When you tour the school, ask to see her handiwork!
